New Yorker wins $50,000 on Super Bowl bet at MGM Grand
New Yorker Jona Fechnitz took up a so-called sucker bet on the Super Bowl.
At MGM Grand just a few hours before the Big Game, Fechnitz plunked down a $1,000 straight bet that the New York Giants would score the first points with a safety.
Oddsmakers placed the bet at 50 to 1.
And, well, he won.
And not only did he win, but Fechnitz plans to donate it all to various charities, including Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s favorite charity.
CeeLo Green to take up Vegas residency?
Last night, CeeLo Green made a surprise appearance at the Super Bowl with Madonna.
Could he be the latest to consider a Las Vegas residency?
That's what Rolling Stone magazine is reporting, where he appears on the cover alongside his fellow "The Voice" cast.
We feel Green would bring a welcome hip-hop vibe to the resident crooners of Celine Dion, Cher, Barry Manilow, and even Motley Crue and Garth Brooks. And we hear The Venetian will soon have a vacancy...
Godfather screenplay up to $7,500 for charity
Las Vegas resident Diane Hutton was on “Pawn Stars” last July where she hawked a screenplay of The Godfather.
They offered $500, but Hutton held onto it, and now online bidding has pushed it to $7,500.
Word got out from the pawn shop show, and producer Al Ruddy (who inscribed a message to Paramount head Robert Evans) recorded a video message to whoever ends up the high bidder.

We have to admit we're beyond excited about the prospect of the 25-acre Splash Canyon, though unfortunate delays have forced to push back a year.
Originally scheduled to open this Memorial Day weekend, it's now scheduled for spring 2013.

Fitzgeralds to be renamed The D Las Vegas?
Fitzgeralds in Downtown Las Vegas
We knew that the brothers who own Golden Gate in downtown Las Vegas purchased Fitzgeralds, and we knew that Golden Gate is in the midst of a massive hotel renovation (they’re using the employee parking lot as the expansion for 60-some hotel rooms) that includes a radical outdoor sign.
Forum Shops at Caesars Palace are also owned by Caesars Entertainment
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Hot off the Facebook IPO comes Caesars Entertainment re-entering the IPO waters for an ultra low $9. Hey, that’s less than a minimum bet at their blackjack tables.
The hope is to raise $18 million… for what, we’re not sure. Particularly since they were originally trying for an IPO to raise $500 million, then tried again last year to raise $50 million.

Mayweather to fight Cotto at MGM Grand Arena
After much teasing on Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s part about fighting Manny Pacquiao, he announced he will be putting on pounds to move up a class to fight junior middleweight Miguel Cotto on May 5 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
Mayweather has been granted a one-fight license, on the condition of him completing his 87-day jail sentence on a plea deal of domestic violence. At least this fight will get him motivated to finish in time to train after his June 1 report date.
